Northerns Communities and Sustainability Mgr Rebecca Styles held a mass safety briefing at Altrincham station on the 21st November. It was a chance for volunteers to refresh their memories on platform safety and ask any questions they had.
Fresh hope for the disused land at Altrincham Interchange
The community rail officer met with Alice Nelton and Kerenza McCanclan of Orlinda Community gardens on the 16th of November to look at the disused land at the interchange. The pair are interested in taking the space on to transform it into a vibrant community garden. Work is expected to start in 2024.
Northwest in Bloom Awards
Three Mid-Cheshire Line station groups impressed the judges at the RHS Northwest in Bloom Awards. The challenging work of the station adopters and volunteers has been rewarded; The results were announced in October. Knutsford Station – level 4 and outstanding for Altrincham and Hale Stations, both received level 5. Congratulations to all involved”.
Volunteer Meet up and a big thank you
In early October, the station volunteers met up at The Golden Pheasant in Plumley to catch up and share ideas. It was also the perfect opportunity to say thank you to John Hulme and John Oates, founding members and partnership directors who stood down recently after 20 years at the helm.
