Take the Autumn Music Train to Alexander’s Café Bar in Chester.
Dave Roberts & his band pay homage to jazz legends at Alexander’s Café Bar in Chester every month.
On 3 November a Mid Cheshire Music Train will take you to hear them – with music and a glass of bubbly on the train to Chester, taxis arranged to and from Alexander’s, ‘sausage and mash’ as you listen and more music on the train on the way back.
The Dave Roberts Quartet is a mainstream/modern jazz ensemble with a huge repertoire of jazz standards. The emphasis is on accessible, swinging jazz; the songs are a mix of swing, latin, blues and funk. Each evening features songs associated with a famous musician or by a well-known composer. Tributes so far have included Gerry Mulligan, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington and Jerome Kern.
Geoff Higginbottom and Rob Carroll will play on the train. They play 6 & 12 string guitars and bodhran as well as singing both traditional and contemporary songs. Geoff’s powerful voice is ideal for the chorus songs he loves and his act is spiced with a delightful sense of humour.
