Thursday 27 June – only 12 places left – Altrincham to Chester at Alexander’s
(departing from Altrincham at 18:36 and returning to Altrincham at 23:54)
Music on the train is from Geoff Higginbottom and Rob Carroll. They play six- and twelve-string guitars and bodhran as well as singing unaccompanied. Geoff sings traditional songs (his powerful voice being ideal for the chorus songs he loves) and also contemporary songs on a wide range of subjects and from a variety of different sources. Music at Alexander’s is by Louis Noble’s So What Now. They play cool jazz for everyone – Latin, blues – with a whole lot of swing.
There is no charge for the Music Train from Altrincham to Chester, though there is a collection on the way back for the band and you will need a train ticket. You can get on the train at Altrincham or at one of the intermediate stations along the way.
You will also need a booking with Alexander’s. The Alexander’s package deal covers the music and food at Alexander’s as well as taxis from Chester station to Alexander’s and back again. The food is Dave Johnson’s award-winning local bangers with mash, peas and gravy. (Vegan option available). You book online at www.alexanderslive.com. The cost is £22 plus £2.20 online booking fee. (You can find and book the Music Trains under ‘Book Tickets’). Please notify Alexander’s when you have booked if you have any dietary requirements.
