On the morning of 1st August a number of people gathered outside the historic Chester Station to celebrate its 175th year. Those in attendance included representatives from Mid Cheshire, North Cheshire and Chester to Shrewsbury rail partnerships, the Thomas Brassey Society and local history group. A series of talks followed at the Queens Hotel opposite including a guest appearance by Pete Waterman. And by pure coincidence that morning the steam locomotive "the Welsh Mountaineer" stopped by at the station before continuing towards North Wales, the icing on the cake for such a historic occasion.
