The green fingered skills of the mid Cheshire Line volunteers were recognised at the RHS Tatton Flower Show in July when their long border exhibit was awarded the prestigious RHS Silver Gilt award.
Their rail themed creation was the culmination of months of planning which began last autumn when Plumley station friend Harry Allen fist mooted the idea to the other volunteers. The project has united station friends from along the line and between them this talented bunch did everything themselves including the border design, growing and nurturing the plants and constructing the border.
Harry said:
“The group worked amazingly hard both leading up to the RHS Flower Show, preparing the plants, practising the build and planning for the construction, and then worked long days putting all their plans into action. We were very surprised and delighted to be awarded silver-gilt. “
Mid Cheshire CRP is extremely proud of the volunteer’s achievement which has not only showcased the talents of our station friends groups but has also used flowers to communicate the vibrancy of the mid Cheshire Line to the public at large.
