Due to the well publicised issues following the introduction of new timetables across the rail network in May, several Train Operators have agreed mutual ticket acceptance until Sunday 29th July, to assist customers travelling on disrupted journeys.
Any customer who has a disrupted journey and holds a TOC specific ticket (eg: Northern Only, TPE Only etc) for any of the below operators, may use any of these operators as an alternative, via any reasonable route.
This applies to both Advance and Walkup (Anytime, Off Peak, Season etc) tickets.
- Northern
- TransPennine Express
- Virgin Trains
- Cross Country
- East Midlands Trains
- Merseyrail
- Virgin Trains East Coast (from 24th June, London North Eastern Railway)
In this instance, a disrupted journey applies when:
- A train has been cancelled (either last minute or in advance).
- A train is delayed and using another operator’s service would reduce the overall delay to the journey.
The customer must travel with the correct operator (and where applicable, on the booked train), if the service is not affected and is operating normally.
