Announced at 7am this morning, Arriva have won the replacement Northern franchise and First the TPE one, both running from 1 April 2016.

We are looking forward to working with Arriva Rail North Ltd and TPE continuing innovative award winning community rail projects. We are excited by the proposed improvements to services along the Mid Cheshire Line by December 2017 including the doubling of Sunday services to hourly and the new hourly semi-fast services from Greenbank to Manchester Piccadilly calling only at Northwich, Knutsford, Hale, Altrincham and Stockport.
We have enjoyed 164% growth in passenger numbers over the last 10 years working with Northern Rail and look forward to further growth and creative partnership working with Arriva.
