There is engineering work services on the Mid Cheshire Line during August 2014 ….

Engineering work is taking place in the Stockport area closing all lines through Stockport including the Mid Cheshire Line.
The service between between Chester and Southport via the Mid-Cheshire line will be replaced by buses between Altrincham and Manchester Piccadilly.
Trains from Altrincham to Chester are retimed to depart Altrincham at 15 minutes past even hours (1015 to 2215).
Note that tickets from Mouldsworth to Navigation Road stations inclusive to Manchester or beyond are valid on the trams from Altrincham/Navigation Road to Manchester on Sundays.
All day, trains will be diverted not calling at Stockport.
Arriva Trains Wales, East Midlands Trains, First TransPennine Express passengers should travel via Manchester Piccadilly for replacement buses to / from Stockport.
CrossCountry, Northern Rail and Virgin Trains services will be diverted between Manchester Piccadilly and Stafford. Replacement buses will operate between Manchester Piccadilly, Stockport, Macclesfield, Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford. Additional buses will also run between Stockport and Macclesfield.
As well as bus replacement services on the Mid Cheshire Line, Northern Rail services between Manchester Piccadilly and Buxton will be replaced by buses between Manchester Piccadilly and Hazel Grove.

23.17 Manchester Piccadilly to Chester, bus replaces the train between Greenbank and Chester
22.48 Chester to Manchester Piccadilly, bus replaces the train between Stockport and Piccadilly
